A Broken Crayon is a heartfelt children’s book with a message that resonates with all ages. Inspired by the hit song from the band Go Fish, it tells the story of a crayon that breaks and believes it’s no longer useful—until an artist sees its beauty and uses it to create something extraordinary.
With lyrical storytelling, this book reminds readers that mistakes, scars, and setbacks don’t define us—they shape us into something even more beautiful. Perfect for families, classrooms, and heartfelt conversations, A Broken Crayon inspires resilience, self-acceptance, and the truth that even in brokenness, we can still shine.
A highlight for me was working with Jan Dolby, the illustrator of the book. Jan is an absolute pro. Her creativity, color choices, and eye for detail brought this story to life in ways I never could have imagined. Watching her transform my words into visual art was one of the most rewarding parts of the entire process.
