About Jan Dolby

Jan Dolby is a freelance children’s illustrator and graphic designer based in Aurora, Ontario, Canada. Internationally published, she has illustrated more than 35 books for children and feels incredibly grateful to work in an industry she loves. Seeing her illustrations in bookstores and online is a dream come true.

Her first Canadian picture book, Gabby by Joyce Grant, won the Rainforest of Reading Festival Award – Montserrat in 2015. Jan has since illustrated Gabby: Drama Queen, Gabby: Wonder Girl, Burst Your Bubble!: Outsmart the Algorithms and See What You’re Missing, I Drove My Bed to Grandma’s House, Willa the Werewolf, and Curlilocks and the Three Hares, collaborating with authors such as Joyce Grant, Alison Hughes, Jackie Azua Kramer, Andrew Hackett and Carolyn Huizinga Mills.

Jan is a Fine Art graduate of the University of Guelph and holds an Arts Administration Certificate from the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. She currently teaches at the Aurora Cultural Centre and the Southampton Arts Centre and is a member of SCBWI, Illustrators for Hire and CANSCAIP.
